After the attempted assassination of Donald Trump last weekend, Joe Biden said from the Oval Office last night that “there is no place for this kind of violence in America.”
But in a neck-and-neck race that favored his predecessor, Biden made it clear to NBC's Lester Holt that he is not interested in playing a game of false equivalence.
"I'm not the guy who said I wanted to be a dictator on Day One," Biden said, referring to language Trump has used on the campaign trail for centuries. "I'm not the guy who refused to accept the results of the election," he added of the 2020 race and Trump's claims that it was stolen from him. "I'm not the guy who said he wouldn't automatically accept the results of this election."
