BLACKPINK Joining Columbia Records?
Singer, actress and Blackpink member Jennie Kim has signed with Columbia Records as a solo artist in collaboration with her record label and entertainment company Oddatalier. She will release her new solo single in October, the company announced on Sunday.
Jennie first emerged in 2016 as a member of Blackpink, the highest-charting female Korean act on the Billboard charts and the only artist from the country to headline Coachella. Last year, she collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the song “One of the Girls” and appeared with the two in the controversial HBO series “The Idol.”
Born in Korea, Kim moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where she studied at the age of 10 for five years before returning to Korea and joining entertainment giant YG's talent academy. Formed in 2016, Blackpink has become the first music group and Korean female act to have five music videos reach one billion views each on YouTube, and is the most-followed girl group on Spotify.
