Blake Lively says producing and starring in “It Ends With Us,” the Sony Pictures film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, cost her everything.

"It was so important for me to work off camera," Lively, who plays Lily Bloom, told Variety at the film's New York premiere on Tuesday. "The work I did as a producer was much more all-consuming than anything I did when I played Lily. I just did everything. There's nothing I didn't touch in this film," she said.
Like its source material, “It Ends With Us” follows Bloom, who falls in love with an irresistible neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid, after several fateful encounters. When Ryle’s violent tendencies surface, Lily relives the cycle of domestic abuse that defined her parents’ relationship and finds the strength to break free. In 2022, thanks to “BookTok,” the literary side of TikTok that propels popular novels to influencer stardom, Hoover’s novel sold four million copies and became a smash hit.
"It cost me my love, it cost me my passion, it cost me my time, it cost me my perseverance and dedication, and it cost me my sleep," Lively continued about working on the film. "That's why I've never had so much auteurship in my life. I walk into this premiere with so much pride in what we've done. For the first time, I can walk away and say, 'I put everything I had into this and I'm proud of it.' It's one of the greatest gifts of my life, and certainly of my career."
