The Blue Lock The Movie Release Date Crunchyroll has announced the upcoming streaming debut of the coming-of-age sports anime film. It serves as a prequel to the first season of the popular anime series, chronicling the origin story of fan-favorite character Seishirō Nagi.

"'That's a hassle.' That was the favorite saying of second-year high school student Nagi Seishiro as he lived his boring life. Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi's hidden ability, inspiring him to play soccer and share his extraordinary talent," the synopsis reads. "One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious BLUE LOCK Project. What awaits him there is a meeting with the best strikers from all over the country. Nagi's dream of becoming the best, together with Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he has never known. A prodigy can only be shaped when someone discovers him… now, striker Nagi Seishiro's incredible talent and personality will set the soccer world on fire."

Blue Lock the Movie – Episode Nagi will be available to stream with subtitles on Crunchyroll starting Thursday, October 17. This follows the film’s June 28 release in U.S. theaters. The anime features the voices of Nobunaga Shimazaki/Bryson Baugus as Nagi, Yuma Uchida/Kamen Casey as Reo, Kazuki Ura/Ricco Fajardo as Isagi, and Tasuku Kaito/Drew Breedlove as Bachira.

Blue Lock is based on the manga series of the same name by writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrator Yusuke Nomura. The film was directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa from a screenplay by Taku Kishimoto. It also stars Kazuyuki Okitsu/Matthew Elkins as Zantetsu Tsurugi, Yuki Ono/Alex Hom as Rensuke Kunigami, Soma Saito/Aaron Dismuke as Hyoma Chigiri, Koki Uchiyama/Matt Shipman as Rin Itoshi, Hiroshi Kamiya/Derick Snow as Ego, and Subaru Kimura/Brent Mukai as Ryo Nameoka. It is produced by studio 8bit.
