'Bluey' to be broadcast for free in Japan
Emmy-winning children's series Bluey is set to air for free in Japan. Episodes of Joe Brumm's Australian animated series will begin airing on Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m. local time on TV Tokyo's Eeny Meeny Many Moe' slot, following the network's deal with distributor BBC Studios. The show follows the endearing and insatiable Blue Heeler dog Bluey, her younger sister Bingo and their mother and father as they have unpredictable stories to tell in and around their neighborhood. Rei Marumo, general manager of TV Tokyo's Anime Division, said the series "could become an important conversation piece for both parents and children." The Ludo Studios show, originally aired on ABC, is the most-streamed series so far this year in the U.S., with more than 35 billion minutes watched, according to Nielsen. Disney+ has international streaming rights, including in Japan. BBC Studios has also added Japan to its global master toy deal with Moose Toys.
