Senator Sherwin Gatchalian welcomed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s announcement of a total ban on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA).

“Sa wakas, after two years, banned na ang POGO sa ating bansa!” Gatchalian said in an ambush interview after the SONA at the Batasang Pambansa Monday (July 22).
Gatchalian remembers the conversation with Marcos, when he went to him to thank him personally for announcing the ban in his speech.
“Nilapitan ko siya. Kinamayan ko kanina. Mahigpit niyang kinamayan ako. Sabi ko, 'boss, thank you!' Sabi niya, 'O forbidden na ha! Nakikinig ako, pinakikinggan kita,'' Gatchalian said.
