Toronto welcomed “The Boss” on Sunday night.
New Bruce Springsteen Documentary Offers Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Tour
But it was a more contemplative Bruce Springsteen on display at Roy Thomson Hall for the world premiere of "Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band," a look at the rock legend and his close-knit group of collaborators that also served as a meditation on mortality. Throughout the film and in the Q&A after the screening, however, the 74-year-old rocker stressed that he has no plans to hang up his guitar anytime soon. He wants to keep rocking until "the wheels fall off."
"If I go tomorrow, it's OK," Springsteen told the crowd, to loud applause. "What a fucking ride!"
Also in the documentary, Springsteen's wife and E Street bandmate Patti Scialfa revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, in 2018. Her illness has made it difficult to perform and has led to her taking a step back from touring. Scialfa was not present at the premiere on Sunday night.
