As part of Reid’s promotion, BuzzFeed Studios is absorbing and refocusing the video arm of BuzzFeed, Inc., home to fan-favorite channels such as BuzzFeed Celeb, BuzzFeed Video, Unsolved Network and the BuzzFeed Animation Lab, into one combined entity. His role will now oversee all of the company’s expansive studios, which include digital video, distribution and premium programming across film, television, documentaries, audio, FAST and licensing for BuzzFeed, HuffPost, Hot Ones and Tasty. As president, he will also lead all business and content operations across the company’s international portfolio of outlets and partnerships around the world.
Moving forward, Reid and the Studios team will look to tailor programming that leverages BuzzFeed’s built-in marketing muscle and 520 million social following. Other areas flowing into BuzzFeed Studios include audio/podcasts with notable mentions like HuffPost’s Am I Doing It Wrong lifestyle podcast, which is consistently named to Apple’s top 10 Self-Help playlists, as well as a suite of FAST channels with existing content around topics like true crime, food and celebrity.
While leading BuzzFeed Studios, Reid shaped the company’s landscape in the film and TV space by reinvigorating the film division as a premium production partner in the era of the new Hollywood, while also leveraging BuzzFeed’s significant reach among millennials and Gen Z to release new and original programming.
