Activision and Treyarch have outlined what we can expect in the coming weeks leading up to the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, including revealing that the game's download size will be smaller than in previous years.
Black Ops 6 has a smaller launch download than MW3!
In a new blog post outlining the launch roadmap for Black Ops 6, Activision revealed quite a bit, but perhaps the most noticeable for fans is the game's download sizes. Call of Duty has often been ridiculed in the past for just how large the game's downloads can get.
This time around, Treyarch is redesigning the Call of Duty launcher and removing Warzone as a mandatory download. This means that when players download Black Ops 6, it will only be the actual game files. For those who want to play Warzone or other titles, the ability to opt in to download those titles will be available, giving players more control over what they download.
At this time, exact download sizes aren’t available, with Treyarch still optimizing things ahead of the game’s launch. Things will kick off on August 21, 2024, however, when Season 5 Reloaded launches for the existing Call of Duty, introducing new technology and data reorganization in preparation for the game’s beta and subsequent launch.
