Five hundred persons deprived of their liberty have been brought to the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. said on Monday (August 12).

“Since January this year, we have already transferred 5,770 PDLs from NBP to various operational prisons and penal farms as part of our decongestion programme and preparation for the closure of NBP in 2028,” he said.
Catapang said the detainees were transferred to the SRPPF on Sunday night (August 11).
The BuCor chief noted that this includes 200 people from the Maximum Security Compound, 200 from the Medium Security Compound and 100 from the Reception and Diagnostic Center.
