“Catapang said he had already placed OPPFs (Operating Prisons and Penal Farms) on heightened alert as of 6 a.m. Wednesday until Typhoon Carina leaves the Philippine area of responsibility,” BuCor said.
So far, according to the agency, Catapang has determined that “all persons deprived of liberty under their charge and Bucor personnel from various operational prisons and penal farms (OPPFs) across the country are safe and sound following the onslaught of Typhoon Carina.”
“Apart from the fencing surrounding the CIW Medium Security Compound, which sustained minimal damage but has been reinforced to ensure security and containment, no significant incidents were reported at all other OPPFs,” the report said.
