Cate Blanchett responds to news she'll have to film all of #Tár's conducting scenes at once
During the Q&A portion of the interview, led by TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey, the “Carol” and “Lord of the Rings” star was asked about the positives and negatives of AI.
“I’m actually very proud of the industry for going on strike about it,” Blanchett said, drawing applause. “We’re a very high-profile industry. And if you think about before the strike, people were talking about [AI], but it wasn’t a dinner table conversation, it wasn’t a mainstream conversation. I think it’s really important to discuss new technology. I think we have to be very careful about it, because innovation without imagination is very, very dangerous.”
Blanchett, who is in Toronto to promote her dark comedy film “Rumours” and the Alfonso Cuarón series “Disclaimer,” assured the Canadian audience that AI “isn’t just going to affect the [entertainment] industry. It’s going to affect everyone.”
