Executive producer Shawna Thomas wrote in a memo to her staff that the third hour is being developed for CBS stations, with a simulcast on the streaming channel CBS News 24/7.
"Now, it won't look or feel exactly like the first two hours. Yes, the talent will be a little different and the name will be a little different, but it will still be the smart and engaging content everyone expects from the CBS Mornings family," Thomas wrote in the memo.
CBS's revamped morning show debuted in 2021 and stars Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, Nate Burleson and Vladimir Duthiers. CBS Mornings is the latest morning show to expand beyond its traditional two-hour 7-9 a.m. slot. NBC's Today expanded to three hours in 2000 and later added a fourth. ABC's Good Morning America added GMA3 in 2018.
