Senator Raffy Tulfo has warned airlines not to compromise on the safety of passengers, crew and their aircraft.
Airlines have 'no limit' on overbooking flights, regulator tells Senate
Tulfo raised critical safety concerns related to overbooking and offloading practices within the airline industry during a Senate hearing on passenger complaints against Gokongwei-owned budget carrier Cebu Pacific.
“While the abuse of the overbooking practice is the most important issue today, I want us to look at the bigger picture of public safety, which is one of the biggest concerns when it comes to travel,” he said during the Senate inquiry on Wednesday.
“If these airlines don't care about meeting their obligations to provide air transportation to their passengers, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut back on safety as well,” he said.
