Netflix has decided not to renew the Greek mythology-inspired dark comedy Kaos for a second season. The cancellation comes after the Jeff Goldblum-starring series debuted more than a month ago. This comes after the series enjoyed success, reaching Netflix’s top 10 charts in its first four weeks of release.
KAOS CANCELLED! Netflix ENDS Greek Mythology Series After One Season!
Kaos was created, written, and executive produced by Charlie Covell, who previously worked with Netflix on the teen comedy The End of the F***ing World. The 10-episode series was a modern-day reimagining of Greek mythology that explored themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld. It also starred Janet McTeer as Hera, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus, Aurora Perrineau as Riddy, David Thewlis as Hades, Killian Scott as Orpheus, Daniel Lawrence Taylor as Theseus, Debi Mazar as Medusa, and more.
In a since-deleted, heartfelt Instagram post (via Variety ), Perrineau, who played Riddy/Eurydice on the series, expressed how excited she was to be a part of the show. She revealed that being cast as one of the leads of Kaos truly changed her life and the way she saw herself.
Perrineau's full statement reads: "Well… this hurts. It's really hard for me to explain how I feel, but I'll try. When I auditioned for this show, I knew it was special, especially because Charlie Covell's scripts resonated with me in a way that most things didn't. I knew all these people and I loved every single one of them — every flaw, everything.
