Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has called on local governments to immediately clean up the trash and debris left behind by the recent disaster to prevent the spread of diseases.

“The last thing we want is for a disease to spread after this disaster,” the lawmaker said Monday (July 29).
The senator made the call in response to severe flooding caused by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
“I urge local governments to clear the garbage and debris everywhere as soon as possible so that the lives of the affected people can gradually return to normal,” he said.
