The filmmakers behind the child trafficking drama “City of Dreams” are giving away $1 million in advance screening tickets to human trafficking organizations, survivors, churches, schools and people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the film.
City of Dreams: New film reveals the dark truth of human trafficking
The giveaway, which is expected to draw more than 50,000 moviegoers, was made possible by a donation from John Devaney, founder of United Capital and Manor House Films. Those who receive tickets will be able to watch the film starting Wednesday, two days before its official premiere.
“[Director Mohit Ramchandani] has done an incredible job of focusing on this issue and telling this story inspired by true events with this powerful and unforgettable film. Few issues deserve a more urgent spotlight, and my family and I are privileged to help raise awareness by providing the opportunity to protect and rescue innocent children from slavery,” Devaney said. “We know America will be as moved as our growing list of ambassadors and influencers who have pledged their support for the film.”
