WWE Superstar CM Punk recently discussed his plans after being fired from AEW. Punk returned to professional wrestling with AEW in 2021, following a seven-year hiatus following his controversial departure from WWE.

Punk’s debut in AEW provided a significant boost to the promotion’s ratings and financial returns. He quickly found himself embroiled in high-profile feuds with stars such as Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston, and MJF. However, tensions came to a head in 2022 during his feud with Hangman Page, which went off-script during their storyline. This led to a conflict between Punk and The Elite, which led to a backstage brawl with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. This resulted in suspensions for everyone involved.
After a nine-month absence, Punk returned, but was soon embroiled in another controversy, this time with AEW star Jack Perry, over the use of glass in a match. Punk reportedly banned Perry from using real glass for safety reasons. However, Perry held a grudge during the AEW All In event in London in 2023.
He made headlines by punching HOOK in a car windshield, insisting it was real glass and dismissing his concerns with a "cry me a river" comment directed at the camera. This prompted Punk to confront Perry backstage before his match against Samoa Joe, which led to a physical confrontation.
