Colin Firth is in talks to star opposite Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg's next film.
Spielberg's only input on John Williams for Indiana Jones theme song
It’s unclear who the Oscar-winning actor will play or what the film will even be about, though it has been described as an “event film,” and the fact that it’s reportedly set to open in the summer of 2026 suggests it will be a return to the kind of blockbusters that made Spielberg a household name. Otherwise, moms won’t know what’s happening on screen. Spielberg came up with the story, and David Koepp, who wrote “Jurassic Park” and the first “Mission: Impossible,” penned the screenplay. Universal will release the film, which will be produced by Spielberg’s company, Amblin.
Firth will next appear in "Lockerbie," a Peacock series about the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, and in "Young Sherlock," a Prime Video series about the early years of Guy Ritchie's famed detective. Firth won an Oscar for his role as King George VI in "The King's Speech" and was nominated for another for his work as a grieving professor in "A Single Man." He also starred in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" as a suave agent who kicks ass in Savile Row suits, and in the "Bridget Jones" franchise as a cocky lawyer romantically entangled with a compulsive diarist (Renée Zellweger). Other credits include "1917," "Shakespeare in Love," "The English Patient" and "Mamma Mia!"
Firth is represented by CAA. Deadline first reported that Firth was in talks to join the Spielberg film.
