Colin Jost leaves Olympics after injuries, infections in Tahiti | Luke Bradnam replaces
“It's a strange feeling when you're in the medical tent more than any other athlete,” Colin Jost told NBC Olympics host Maria Taylor last week.
The Weekend Update host had taken on the unique role of "Olympics Surfing Correspondent" for NBC's coverage of the competition, which takes place in Tahiti. Some of Jost's reporting included self-deprecating descriptions of his own surfing skills and his litany of related ailments, many of which are common to surfers in the tropics.
First he cut his foot on the reef, then he got a staph infection, then he got an ear infection. Hence the jokes with Taylor.
