The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Monday that it plans to file charges against voters who intentionally registered twice or multiple times in the National Voter Registration List (NLRV).
Comelec to file complaints against duplicate, multiple registrations
The Comelec made this ruling simultaneously with a special hearing of the Electoral Registration Board (ERB) nationwide to discuss the issue of duplicate or multiple voter registrations.
This is still part of Comelec's preparation for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) elections.
During the public briefing in Laging Handa, Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said the commission is investigating nearly 120,000 voters who may have intentionally registered twice.
