Taylor Swift and Beyoncé concert films become box office hits – and could shake up the film industry
When the concert special “The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden” airs this weekend on CBS and streams on demand on Paramount+, it will be just the latest example of renewed interest in the genre.
The Piano Man follows hot on the heels of boy band BTS’s global sensation, Suga, who hit theaters via “SUGA/Agust D Tour 'D-Day' the Movie,” which premiered in both traditional theaters and Imax theaters on April 10.
“We are in discussions with a number of labels and artists about performing their concerts in Imax,” Imax CEO Richard Gelfond said in an interview with VIP+.
