Members of the Writers Guild of America East have unanimously ratified their first union contract with Crooked Media, producer of “Pod Save America.”
WGA members overwhelmingly ratify new contract
Crooked Media’s 61-member negotiating team reached a three-year agreement that includes an immediate 15% increase in base pay, just cause and succession, protections against generative artificial intelligence, and improvements to health care and other benefits, the union said.
On August 9, Crooked Media and WGA East reached an agreement after more than a year of negotiations, with the writers' guild withdrawing allegations that the company had taken "union-busting" actions. The resolution came after the WGA staged a one-day strike at Crooked Media on August 5 to protest the lack of progress on a deal.
Crooked Media was founded in 2017 by three former Obama administration advisers: Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor.
