The content creators of the Crooked Media Union are going on strike Monday after more than a year of negotiations with management over the first contract since the union organized under the Writers Guild of America East.

More than 95 percent of the 61-member bargaining unit signed the pledge for a one-day strike, the WGAE said. Plans are underway to hand out a leaflet outside Crooked Media's Los Angeles offices on Monday.
“We, the undersigned members of the Crooked Media Workers Union, stand united in our pursuit of a collective bargaining agreement that adequately reflects the current economic landscape, the rapidly changing nature of the media and news industry, and the critical concerns of our members. This includes fair and competitive minimum wages, annual cost-of-living adjustments, and layoff protections, along with a suite of benefits and company policies that truly embody Crooked Media’s progressive values. We will not accept any collective bargaining agreement without these guarantees,” the group’s strike pledge reads.
The strike comes a week after the WGAE filed an unfair labor practice charge against Crooked Media with the National Labor Relations Board for “unilaterally altering the status quo of the previously negotiated recognition agreement and insisting on a permissive bargaining topic.”
