Dateline 20/20 Death of Michelle Reynolds
Dateline: Unforgettable will re-examine the brutal murder of Thad Reynolds that took place in July 2004. The episode, titled "The Secret Life of the Homecoming Queen," will reveal details about the horrific case and how an innocent man lost his life due to a love triangle. The episode will also shed light on how investigators captured the perpetrators in just four days and charged them with the murder. The episode will air on Thursday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
According to WSB-TV Atlanta, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Thad Reynolds just outside his workplace in northwest Georgia. The outlet reported that the killer stabbed the victim 19 times. After police began investigating the murder, they made an arrest just four days after they found the victim's body. Authorities arrested Reynolds' wife, Michelle Reynolds, and Scott Harper for the murder. Investigators said that Reynolds and Harper were having an affair, which is why they decided to kill Thad.
Police also noted that the duo used multiple means of communication to plan the murder, including telephone and text messages. WFMY News reported, "The investigation revealed that the two conspired to commit the murder through multiple means of communication, including face-to-face contact, telephone and computer-generated messages." Four years later, in 2008, Harper pleaded guilty to the murder to avoid the death penalty and agreed to testify against Michelle Reynolds. He was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Thad Reynolds, according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
