Dawn French returns to the BBC with a sitcom from Simon Mayhew-Archer of This Country, CBS Studios and Big Talk.

French stars opposite Mark Heap in Can You Keep a Secret?, in which the comedy icon plays widower Debbie Fenton, who will do anything to protect her family. Unfortunately, she’s the one they really need, the one they need to be protected from. When her hermit husband William (Heap) unexpectedly dies, she makes a strange decision that puts the family under more pressure than ever before.

French has not appeared on the BBC since the French and Saunders Christmas special in 2017. She made her name starring in her sketch show opposite Jennifer Saunders and has appeared in a number of other comedies and dramas, as well as performing as a comedian.
