It turns out that Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider almost appeared in a film that would later feature cameo appearances from Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade, and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, to name a few.
Ryan Reynolds Reveals Nicolas Cage Almost Came As Ghost Rider In Deadpool & Wolverine!
Ryan Reynolds, the star, co-writer and producer of Deadpool & Wolverine, revealed in a recent interview that there were talks about Cage reprising his role as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider in the film. Unfortunately for fans of Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, that ultimately didn't happen.
Recently, in an interview with Collider , Reynolds was asked alongside Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy if they ever considered using Cage's Ghost Rider as one of the cameos in the film. "Yes," the Red Notice actor said, before adding that the topic "has definitely come up. Yes, but no." Beyond that, Reynolds reportedly seemed coy about the subject.
Directed by Mark Steven Johnson, Ghost Rider received mostly negative reviews from critics and currently holds an approval rating of 27% on Rotten Tomatoes from 140 reviews. However, the film was a commercial success, earning $228.7 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $110 million. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance performed worse with critics. It currently holds an approval rating of 19% on Rotten Tomatoes from 120 reviews, though it did manage to gross $132.6-149.4 million worldwide against a budget of $57 million.
