Padilla filed Senate Bill 2777, which proposes to strengthen Republic Act (RA) 8353, also known as the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
“Despite the penalties under RA 8353, this bill still finds it compelling to increase the penalty for anyone who commits an act of rape as provided in Section 2, Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA 8353,” Padilla said.
“By doing this, we can ensure that our laws are stronger, more gender-sensitive and more progressive, especially in these changing times,” he stressed.
