Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez on Friday called on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fire all officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) for failing to punish or deny Cebu Pacific over poor service.

At the same time, Rodriguez said Marcos should also fire the Department of Transportation (DOTr) officials who directly oversee CAAP and CAB.
Rodriguez noted that DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista and his Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports, Roberto Lim, are both former airline and aviation association executives who worked in the sector for many years.
"With their wealth of knowledge and experience, the public expects a lot from them. They should be solving this mess of delayed flights, canceled flights, overbookings and airport disruptions. They should not wait for the president to order them to do so," Rodriguez said in a statement.
