The opening night’s lineup was plagued by delays, to the point that President Joe Biden’s speech was pushed out of prime time on the East Coast and wrapped after that key time period in the Central time zone. The delays even occurred when parts of the lineup, including a performance by James Taylor, were scrapped.
Alex Hornbrook, executive director of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said they "made some real-time schedule adjustments last night" and will be making "some other adjustments tonight, including the 5:30 p.m. start to make sure we stay on schedule tonight."
Other speakers include Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Mesa Mayor John Giles. There will also be a ceremonial roll call of delegates.
