The Democratic National Convention will also feature celebrity hosts each night, a departure from the 2020 all-virtual event.

According to a congressional official, Tony Goldwyn will host Monday night, Ana Navarro Tuesday, Mindy Kaling Wednesday and Kerry Washington Thursday.
Washington was part of the lineup of hosts in 2020, when an in-person event was canceled due to the Covid pandemic. Stephanie Cutter and Ricky Kirshner, who produced that convention, are back this year.
The convention will also borrow some elements from 2020’s virtual roll call, as some of the delegates went viral for their creativity in presenting their states. The roll call will take place on Tuesday and will be ceremonial, as Kamala Harris was already confirmed as the Democratic nominee in a virtual delegate vote earlier this month. Rumor has it that it will be California, her home state, that will put her over the top at Tuesday’s event. The Golden State’s delegates will be seated at the very front, according to Sunday’s stage setup. (One of the states seated far from the stage: Florida.)
