The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has announced the introduction of Crisis Alert Level 1 (precautionary phase) for Bangladesh in response to ongoing demonstrations and civil unrest.

On Friday, the DFA warned that the security situation could change abruptly. There are currently an estimated 700 Filipinos in Bangladesh.
In its advisory, the DFA advises Filipinos in Bangladesh to exercise caution and limit non-essential travel, remain vigilant, adhere to guidelines from local authorities, carry a valid passport and residence visa at all times, and register with the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka if they have not already done so.
