Effective July 1, 2023, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will transfer the Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) functions for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
DFA transfers OFW relief program to DMW | ANC
This is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11641, a law that created the DMW.
Under this law, all assistance cases involving OFWs, including legal or medical assistance, repatriation and shipment of remains, will henceforth be handled by the DMW through the AKSYON Fund, except in countries where there are no Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs) established under the DMW.
To ensure uninterrupted service, the public is requested to refer all requests for assistance regarding OFWs (documented or undocumented) located in the following countries/territories with MWOs established therein to the DMW:
