Fans of Jenny Han’s original book series were thrilled with the film adaptation of a girl (Lola Tung) caught in a love triangle with two brothers (Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno). New viewers wanted more, turning to the books to tide them over until the next season. Last summer, when Season 2 debuted, everyone (not just teens) was talking about it. This summer, however, we’ve entered a TSITP drought: Season 3 won’t premiere until next summer.
While TSITP is known as the summer show, there are plenty of other shows that use the season as a backdrop (and we haven't even gotten to the love triangles and family drama). If you're currently missing your favorite summer binge, here are a few shows that might tide you over.
In this Netflix original series, American teenager Summer Torres (Sky Katz) is sent to a small Australian coastal town after being expelled from school. Summer quickly becomes involved with a local group of teens and embraces being part of the surf culture. The feel-good atmosphere is reminiscent of TSITP and it’s a great summer vacation watch for those stuck at home.
