How to Start a Samsung TV and Play Amazon, Netflix and Disney
EXCLUSIVE: The battle for better streaming revenue has been at least partially won in the US, but in the UK it's just beginning.
Deadline can reveal that Directors UK (DUK), the agency and debt collection agency that represents British directors, has written to Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, Apple and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) in recent weeks demanding higher royalties for its 8,000-plus members. And in a move that raises the stakes, DUK said in its letter that the agency could potentially withhold copyright from streamers in the future if they don’t come to the table and attempt to strike a deal, we understand.
While Deadline has not seen the letter, we understand it has been doing the rounds in the industry recently and could be a talking point at this week’s Edinburgh TV Festival. Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, Apple and WBD all declined to comment.
