Walt Disney Studios is currently having an extraordinary year at the box office. Marvel projects have also returned to record-breaking form after some financial failures in the recent past. Disney had four of the top five flops in 2023, according to Deadline’s calculations. Nevertheless, Disney has made a comeback at the box office, with a number of overachieving successes this year.

At the time of writing, Disney's total box office gross in 2024 has officially surpassed the $3 billion mark.

Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2 have proven to be the frontrunners of Disney's excellent box office performances this year. The latest MCU film has managed to gross $824.1 million worldwide so far, according to Deadline. The sequel has already surpassed the total grosses of its predecessors, with 2016's Deadpool grossing $783 million and Deadpool 2 grossing $786 million.

Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 has grossed $1,555.1 million worldwide to date, accounting for nearly half of Disney’s current box office haul this year. What’s more, the offshore decline was recorded at just 28%, despite the film entering its eighth weekend.
