Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan has admitted that the country lacks an updated and integrated flood control master plan.

Bonoan admitted this during the Senate Public Works Committee hearing on Thursday (August 1) on the flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains following Typhoon Carina last week.
This could explain why the country experiences flooding every typhoon season, the senators complained.
“I have already looked at it and most of the master plans are still being updated at the moment, taking into account the phenomenon of climate change and other factors that need to be included in the master plan,” Bonoan said.
