Famed sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer dies at 96
Dr. Ruth Westheimer, whose grandmotherly approach to sex therapy made her a pop icon in the 1980s, died Friday at age 96 at her home in New York City.
Her publicist, Pierre Lehu, who co-wrote books with Westheimer, confirmed her death.
"She was peaceful when she passed. Her son and daughter were there with her, holding her hand at that moment," Lehu told People, adding, "It was as peaceful as she could go. It's amazing, there was so much going on in her life [she has a book coming out with Allison Gilbert this fall] and someone wants to do a biopic about her."
