Eddie Rosenblatt, president of Geffen Records at a time when it was one of the most popular record labels in the music industry, died Tuesday at age 89 in a Santa Barbara hospital of pneumonia.
Rosenblatt led Geffen in the 1980s and 1990s and featured artists including Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, Whitesnake, Peter Gabriel, Sonic Youth and XTC.
Rosenblatt was born in Queens, New York, in 1934. After serving in the U.S. Army and a stint in Macy's management training program, he moved to Cleveland to work at Cosnat Distributing.
