Did Elsbeth save the best for last? Well, let's just say it's a trend that continues. A season full of great guest stars—Stephen Moyer, Jane Krakowski, Blair Underwood, Keegan-Michael Key, and Elizabeth Lail, to name a few—closes with a finale of more. (The good news: The show has already been renewed for Season 2!) Laura Benanti and André De Shields make guest appearances, and TV Insider has an exclusive first look at photos from the May 23 episode and behind-the-scenes look at series star Carrie Preston.

In the aptly titled “A Fitting Finale,” airing at 9/8c instead of its usual 10/9c time slot, when an unsympathetic fashion photographer is murdered during a fashion show, Elsbeth (Preston) and the team suspect the killer is either the photographer’s ex — and the show’s star model, Nadine (Benanti) — or her jealous husband. Meanwhile, Elsbeth’s role at the police station is called into question.

When TV Insider spoke with Carra Patterson (who plays Officer Kaya Blanke), she raved about all of the guest stars this season, especially De Shields. "He's truly an icon and a legend of the stage and now the screen and just watching him work… The scenes he does are really powerful and I couldn't wait to film them," she said. "I think that's going to be a real treat."

Preston couldn't name a favorite guest star when co-creator Robert King asked her that exact question when we spoke with them earlier this season. "Everyone brings a different energy to the set, so I love that," she explained. "Every week it's like, 'What's behind the door?' That's fun for me because it keeps my performance fresh."
