“I have one question… who's wearing sequins?”
Sir Elton John at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of ELTON JOHN: NEVER TOO LATE #tiff
It's a fair question for Toronto International Film Festival CEO Cameron Bailey to ask during Friday night's world premiere of “Elton John: Never Too Late,” a revealing look at the generation-spanning music (and fashion) icon.
Despite being one of the best-selling artists of all time, a tearful John told the crowd at Roy Thomson Hall that family was more important to him than fame. "On my gravestone, I don't want it to say he sold a million records. I want it to say he was a great father and a great husband."
“Never Too Late” chronicles John’s journey to becoming one of the world’s biggest rock stars, framed by his historic performances at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium in 1975 before more than 100,000 fans and again in 2022 as the final North American stop on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour. The documentary also details his relationship with his husband David Furnish (who co-directed with “The September Issue” filmmaker RJ Cutler) and their boys, Zachary and Elijah.
