The documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late” — which charts the half-century career of one of music’s most legendary figures — will have its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. The American Express gala will be held at the Royal Festival Hall on October 10, with John in attendance.

Directed by RJ Cutler ("Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry," "Listen to Me Marlon") and John's husband David Furnish, the film follows the musician as he looks back on his life and the astonishing early days of his 50-year career in what is described as an "emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting journey that comes full circle." As John prepares for his final North American concert at Dodger Stadium, he opens up about the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today.

The Disney Branded Television original documentary is produced by Rocket Entertainment and This Machine Filmworks (part of Sony Pictures Television). In addition to directing, Cutler and Furnish also serve as producers alongside Trevor Smith. Elise Pearlstein, Mark Blatty, Luke Lloyd Davies, Rachael Paley, Jane Cha Cutler and John Battsek serve as executive producers.
