AI shockwaves hit Hollywood: here's what you need to know
If anyone attended the annual Hollywood Professional Association Tech Retreat last week and expected Jeff Rosica to deliver a subdued speech as Avid CEO, they were mistaken.
“I think we’re on the verge of a catastrophic time if we’re not careful,” he warned a crowd of about 700 people in a speech Feb. 22 at the annual meeting at the Westin Rancho Mirage outside Palm Springs. “As leaders and stakeholders, we’re going to have to work together like we’ve never worked together before to fix what I think is a growing mess across the industry.”
Rosica spoke with the blunt candor befitting someone who has been part of the HPA community for decades and has just risen to one of its top positions. She offered a data-driven assessment of the sector, and a counterintuitive conclusion: AI cannot be feared merely as a job killer.
