This year’s Emmy nominees span a wide range of genres and stories, from high society culture wars to post-apocalyptic Westerns, feudal Japanese epics, murder podcasts, and elementary school pranks, to name a few. But no category is a more bewildering exercise in Hollywood Mad Libs than the original lineup of music and lyrics.

The five nominees all come from different networks and streamers and represent genres that would probably never appear together in a concert agenda.
