Eric André says he was “racially profiled” and “detained” at Melbourne airport after a series of flights from New York City.
Eric André accuses Melbourne airport of racial profiling
In a video posted to Instagram, the comedian and actor says he was “pulled out of a queue and put in a special queue in Melbourne where I was thoroughly sniffed by a dog.”
“It’s one of many times I’ve been racially profiled at the airport,” André said. “So this is a message to all the black, brown and Indigenous people travelling through Melbourne today.”
André then asked his nearly 3 million followers if anyone had any information on the specific police program, or statistics on how many white passengers are selected compared to people of color. He also asked for recommendations for a discrimination lawyer in Australia.
