House of Representatives Deputy Speaker and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo called on the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to provide free leptospirosis and tetanus treatments to disaster victims.
FREE LEPTOSPIROSIS TREATMENT WANTS TO PUSH SOME LEGAL MAKERS THROUGH PHILHEALTH; INFLUENCED BY CARINA
In a speech on Tuesday, Tulfo said flood victims “often face not only the immediate challenges of loss and displacement, but also the long-term health risks caused by diseases such as leptospirosis and tetanus.”
“These diseases are particularly insidious because they can be triggered by exposure to contaminated water or injuries from debris, making them a major concern for disaster-affected populations. Given these challenges, we propose that PhilHealth cover the cost of medical treatment for leptospirosis and tetanus,” Tulfo said.
“This intervention is crucial because it provides relief to those who are already suffering from the trauma and loss caused by disasters,” he stressed.
