Now in its fourth year, the event celebrates Latin American culture and the Mexican tradition of honoring deceased relatives and bringing together chosen family members. This year’s event will feature the creative vision of Oscar-winning production designer Eugenio Caballero. At last year’s celebration, Gael Garcia Bernal was honored with the first Premio Vida y Legado award.
A third award, known as the Abuelita Award, will be presented this year by Alien: Romulus star Isabela Merced posthumously to her grandmother Yolanda Merced Salazar. The award recognizes the indelible marks abuelas leave on our hearts around the world and the profound influence they have on their families and beyond. Merced’s aunt Gloria Rojas will accept the award.
The party continues after the awards dinner, with performances by Hamilton and In the Heights star Ramos who will sing the traditional folk song “La Llorona” and recording artist Miguel will perform his Grammy Award-winning song “Adorn.”
