The Jesuit Order has appointed a Filipino priest to lead its mission in the Asia-Pacific region.
Are PHILIPPINES Asian or Pacific Islander?
In a news release on the news website of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Society of Jesus Superior General Father Arturo Sosa issued a decree on June 13 appointing Father Primitivo Viray as president of the Jesuit Conference of Asia-Pacific (JCAP).
Viray succeeds Father Antonio Moreno, who has been president of JCAP since 2017.
Sosa said in his decree that Viray has the “integrity and prudence” to lead the JCAP.
