Find Me Falling | Official Trailer | Netflix

If the only place you can go on holiday this year is to binge-watch Netflix, you could do worse than Harry Connick Jr.’s sweet and forgettable romantic comedy Find Me Falling. This is a standard, yet mature rom-com set entirely on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, in one of those quaint villages with colorful locals who’ll dish out tons of love advice. The seaside setting is delightful, making this 92-minute soufflé an easy one to swallow. It may not be your cup of tea, but it’s worth the time, especially for Connick aficionados. It’ll no doubt do the Cyprus tourist board good.

Connick plays a fading rock star, John Allman, who has moved to the island to escape his life and his former fame, but instead finds himself right in it when he reconnects with an old flame, the love of his life whom he met on this piece of paradise many years earlier but let slip away. She hasn’t slipped away all that far, as he discovers when a chance meeting and introduction at dinner turns out to be the same person, Sia (Agni Scott), who knew him before fame interrupted him. Rather than a cute encounter, this is a deeply awkward one, but the attraction is clearly still there and, as if time had never passed, they have jumped into bed – a one-nighter, not a rekindling, she assures her disapproving boyfriend.

There are other activities for the newly returned rocker, including what he thought was a little skinny dip on a private beach that turns out to be not so private. John is actually looking for some kind of serenity and seems a bit of a mess when he befriends a local girl who has him as a client. Melina (Ali Fumiko Whitney) is full of spunk and, it turns out, musical talent, which she shows off at the local pub. She gets encouragement, even a song, from John because the two have music in common. Meanwhile, he tries to prolong his newfound relationship with Sia by inviting her to dinner, a dinner that will be prepared for him by none other than Melina, who is a jack of all trades. However, complications arise when Melina doesn't get out of there fast enough, while Sia arrives and discovers, much to John's horror, that she knows Melina, who happens to be her daughter. None of this goes over well with Sia, who is shocked to see her ex-flame there — 100% innocent — with her little girl.
