The lawyer for the woman suing Netflix over the way she is allegedly portrayed in the hit series Baby Reindeer calls Netflix's many Emmy nominations "a slap in the face."
Baby Reindeer Emmy nominations 'slap in the face' for Fiona Harvey
Fiona Harvey, a Scottish woman who knew Richard Gadd, the writer and lead actor of the drama series, is suing Netflix for, among other things, defamation, intentional harm to emotional distress, negligence and gross negligence.
This week, her lawyer Richard Roth told Britain's Daily Mail that the recognition at the upcoming awards was the "latest slap in the face" for Harvey, who, he said, had suffered "a life-changing tragedy" as a result of the "brazen lies" told about her in the drama.
"It has been suggested that the series should not have been nominated for an Emmy because of this ongoing issue. Netflix claims that Baby Reindeer is a true story, but that is clearly not true."
